What to Expect
Our practice provides comprehensive patient care in all phases of surgical and non-surgical endodontics. Endodontics, or “root canal therapy”, is one of the dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association and is the only type of treatment that we perform. By referring you to our office, your dentist has shown the concern that you receive the finest endodontic care possible. Your endodontic treatment will be performed using the most advanced technology available in the field of endodontics today.
We are always excited to meet new patients. Our goal is to provide you with an exceptional experience. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow time to complete the medical and dental health questionnaire, the patient information form, and the financial information form if you have not previously done so. If you are able to complete these forms online you can review them and relax upon your arrival. Please bring your dental insurance card for us to copy. If your general dentist has given you a written referral or x-rays, please remember to bring them with you to your appointment.
Please bring a list of your current medications and take all routine medications prior to your visit if applicable. Please do not take medication for discomfort for at least 4 to 6 hours prior to your appointment so that an accurate diagnosis can be established. All treatment is performed using local anesthesia. If you have a medical condition that may be a concern prior to your visit such as diabetes, high blood pressure, rheumatic fever, artificial joints or heart valves, etc., please let us know before your appointment. If you require antibiotics for any existing conditions please contact our office prior to your visit. All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
Treatment of your tooth begins with a diagnostic examination. We will review your medical and dental history and will perform a clinical and radiographic examination to establish a diagnosis. We will determine if root canal therapy is indicated and thoroughly explain your treatment options. In many cases, root canal therapy can be completed during this visit. However, treatment may be scheduled for a future appointment depending upon treatment recommendations.
We take pride in the fact that our doctors use a surgical microscope for all endodontic procedures which offers optimum visualization of delicate root anatomy. In addition, we utilize a low radiation digital x-ray system, digital microscopic imaging, and microsurgical instruments to greatly enhance the precision and efficiency of each procedure. Our office also has the on-site ability to take high resolution 3-D images of your teeth. This technology is called Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). It allows us to identify and treat pathology and anatomy not detectable with traditional x-rays resulting in more thorough and precise treatment. The field of endodontics has progressed significantly allowing for a very smooth patient experience that is not very different from having a tooth filled or being treated for other common dental procedures. Your comfort throughout all phases of treatment is our highest priority. We hope to exceed your expectations.
Procedures we offer include non-surgical root canal therapy, endodontic retreatment, treatment of traumatic injuries for adults and children, treatment of cracked teeth, and endodontic surgery or apicoectomies. Through specialized endodontic treatment we are able to save many teeth that may otherwise have been lost. If you would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Every patient is unique and we are committed to providing you with the highest quality endodontic care based on your individual needs. Above all else, we want to make your visit to our office an exceptional experience.
